The 3rd Malaysia Plan Commemorative Coin

The 3rd Malaysia Plan Commemorative Coins were issued in 1976 in conjunction with the introduction of the 3rd Malaysia Plan by Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak. These commemorative coins were released in two denominations namely 1 Ringgit Copper-Nickel coin and 10 Ringgit .925 Silver coin. They were minted by Franklin Mint, United State.

A total of 1,000,000 and 200,00 of 1 Ringgit Copper-Nickel and 10 Ringgit .925 Silver coins were issued in 1976. The obverse of the coin features portrait of Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak with 14 flags - Malaysia and its 13 states. The reverse depicts the coat of arm Malaysia and the 3rd Malaysia Plan was written in national language "Rancangan Malaysia Ketiga 1976 - 1980".

This is a 3rd Malaysia Plan's 10 Ringgit .925 Silver coin issued in 1976.

I believe your post information may not be correct. You have missed out the RM200 gold coin issued for this occasion.

This is one of the best designed coins ever issued by BNM. This only comes second to the 1971 RM100 TAR gold coin. I said this, because I have both of them and I am not ever a coins collector LOL!

I note that you have this RM10 coin. I only have the RM1 and gold coin. If I am not wrong, even my RM1 coin comes in a blue velvet box.

You are absolutely correct. I have missed out the gold coin. BNM also issued RM200 .900 Gold Coin. Besides, Proof set of 3 also available in market which consists of RM1, RM10 Silver and RM200 Gold.

Dear Jack, Was the RM1 coin also fourteen sided (and also showing the 14 flags)? Any idea where I could obtain one of these RM1 coins - a Malaysian dealer/website? Gerald
